1967 Aston Martin DB6

This stunning Aston Martin DB6 left the factory in Ming Blue with Cream leather and has had just two owners since 1973 covering less than 20,000 miles in the past 45 years. Two full restorations are documented within the comprehensive history file, the first from 1979 to 1983 and having been off the road since 1990, an eight year rebuild from 2008 has been undertaken by Aston Martin specialists.

The car was purchased from Braeside Motors in Blythe Bridge on 18th July 1973 and stayed with its Staffordshire based owner for over 40 years. In 1979 the owner booked the car in with ‘Robin Hamilton for Aston Martin and Lagonda' for a major restoration. The rebuild was carried out over four years and began with full restoration of the chassis and underside. The Aston Martin was then mechanically overhauled, the engine being treated to a top end rebuild and brakes, steering, suspension, cooling and fuel systems all being subject of overhaul. Having taken the DB6 to an excellent standard in terms of structure and mechanicals, the cosmetic program of work began. All exterior fittings were removed, the paintwork stripped to bare aluminium and the bodyshell prepared for panel work. All corrosion was removed, and new panels and sections were fitted as required prior to the bodyshell, doors, bonnet and boot being prepared for a full re-paint. The interior trim was renovated, and the car fitted up with re-chromed brightwork. Throughout the 1980's the Aston Martin was in regular use and invoices support regular maintenance and upkeep.

From 1990 to 2016 the Aston Martin was off the road and was unused. With no use for 18 years, in 2008 the DB6 was subject of a further major rebuild by Staffordshire specialists Classic Astons. The bodyshell was taken for shot blasting and then rebuilt from the ground up and all steel was completely painted in Red oxide prima and re-painted. Many ancillaries were Black powder coated and the braking, steering and suspension system fully overhauled, the wiring loom replaced, and the cooling system overhauled. The interior was completely removed and fully re-trimmed in Cream leather as per original but prior to completion, in 2015 the owner of over 40 years had to sell the car. The most recent owner paid Classic Astons to complete the car and authorised further major work.

The engine block was taken to World renown Aston Martin engine builders RS Williams who re-conditioned the block and uprated the engine to 4.2 specification. The engine was then fully rebuilt with new Cosworth 4.2 spec hone liners and pistons, main and big end bearing set, the crankshaft was machined, and polished and new tensioners, pulleys, gaskets and timing chain set fitted. The top end was treated to new inlet and exhaust valves, seats and guides and inner and outer valve springs. A new water pump with all new silicon hoses has been fitted and the engine re-fitted into a superbly presented and detailed engine bay. The engine itself was highly detailed, cam covers were stove enamelled and the tripe SU carburettors fully rebuilt with parts silver zinc treated, polished nickel-plated and the SU carburettor body bead blasted to ensure a top-class finish.  A stainless-steel polished exhaust manifold and system was fitted to the car and various new ancillaries include high torque starter motor, re-conditioned alternator, new HT leads and electronic ignition. An anti-roll upgrade has been fitted to the car to include new uprights with polyethene bushes. After 26 years off the road, in 2016 the Aston was completed at a cost of more than £100,000 and since then gentle running in miles have been covered.

The Aston Martin DB6 has arrived with less than 500 miles covered since the long-term restoration. The car drives perfectly, everything works, and it is a true delight on the road with superb changes up and down the five-speed manual gearbox. The engine sounds magnificent, performs perfectly and the car handles and holds the road superbly. This is an absolute top class driving car and the experience will not disappoint. Having had such an extensive recent mechanical rebuild, the cars next owner can have full confidence. The DB6 was recently driven from North London to Staffordshire to have final restoration snagging completed at a cost of around £3,000 and was then collected by us, ready to sell in exceptional condition throughout. Not only does the car drive in superbly, it presents in first class condition. Although the paintwork and bodywork were completed ten years ago, the finish is first class and the body is in truly exceptional condition. The Cream leather upholstery is magnificent, and the engine bay detailing is stunning having had tens of hours of high level detailing to achieve the best of under bonnet finishes. This is a very special car with an outstanding documented history dating back to the early 1970's. The Aston Martin has been rebuilt to an exceptionally high standard, it was sold in 1973 with 53000 miles recorded at six years old and since the first rebuild was completed the car has covered in the region of 22,000 miles. Now running in from its second restoration, we are delighted to offer it onto the open market for the first time in over 40 years.
