1933 Austin 12/4 Harley

This stunning Austin 12/4 Harley has been supplied by us on two previous occasions, twice in the hands of long standing regular customers. XYJ 979 was last sold by us in January 2012 to a West Yorkshire classic car collector and enthusiast. For the past two years the Austin has been part of a large collection of classic cars and commercials, all used on a regular basis for shows, rallies and daily driving. The collection of interesting vehicles are on the button, ready to use and capable of long distance driving and the Austin has fitted in perfectly and met expectations. The 12/4 has been a pleasure to own proving totally reliable and performing faultlessly on the road. After over 2 and a half years, the car has been driven to us from Leeds in exchange for a Crossley Regis.

The first time this car came to us was in 2009, it was collected from Scotland and put through our workshop for light re-commissioning. We stripped and sent off the steering box for rebuild, re-conditioned the dynamo and re-lined the clutch. The carburettor was rebuilt and we then put the Austin through an MOT. At the point, we secured a buyer, a regular customer near Doncaster and carried extensive bodywork on his behalf. The doors were removed, all rust cut out and new door bottoms fabricated and fitted to the car. The Austin was then treated to a lower half re-paint and then spent three years in South Yorkshire before coming back to us in part exchange for a pre-war Daimler.

Several years on sine this work and the Black paintwork still has a fabulous finish and is complimented by lovely chrome work and detail that makes this vehicle ideal for showing. The Blue upholstery is in excellent order with fabulous leather seats, high quality door cards, carpets and headlining. Wheels and tyres are in very good order and the under bonnet area is well presented. Since first selling the car over six years ago XYJ 979 has covered several thousand faultless miles and the car drives exceptionally well with a fabulous, strong engine holding superb oil pressure. The Austin is in excellent mechanical order with a first class steering box, suspension and brakes are exceptionally good and the Austin offers superb handling and a lovely, comfortable ride. The gears change up and down nicely, the car is very easy to drive and a truly enjoyable pre-war car experience.

This is an excellent opportunity to acquire a stunning pre-war Austin that is ready to be enjoyed. Whether the car is for weekend use, wedding work or showing, this reliable on the button Austin 12/4 is just fabulous throughout with a sharp exterior, stunning, nicely aged upholstery and excellent running gear.

Very hard to find like this.
