1951 Austin A125 Sheerline

This remarkably original Austin Sheerline was purchased new from Mann's of Monmouth in October 1951. Following the inability for the lady owner's chauffeur to get on with the car, it was exchanged for a DS2 Princess just three months later. The Mann family then retained KAX 544 and used it for wedding work and family use until 2004. In 2004 the car moved from Monmouth to Guilford and was subject of a mechanical renovation at a cost in excess of £4,000. The very impressive, large and imposing Austin has only covered 68,000 miles from new and has to be one of the most original examples we have come across. Paintwork appears largely original and clearly shows signs of age with plenty of marks and imperfections. The interior is also very original with the exception of new carpets. The seats have aged well and the common stain caused by the denature of the Bakerlite steering wheel is also evident.

Whilst far from perfect cosmetically, we can say with full confidence that our Sheerline is superb on the road. We collected the car from one of our regular customers in Kent and the Austin was driven here on the near 300 mile trip North. The Austin is superb on the road with a lovely quiet engine and smooth column gear changes. The car handles very well and has a solid feel on the road. The Austin comes with a comprehensive history file including invoices for mechanical work, original keys in leather covers, handbook and original tool roll.
