1957 Austin FX3D London Taxi

The FX3 model was manufactured between 1949 and 1958 and today there are very few survivors.

This beautiful FX3D Taxi has undergone a full restoration taking in excess of fifteen years. A good history with photographs of the restoration are with the car. Work included an engine rebore with new pistons, new cylinder liner, new timing chain, oil pump and clutch. The injector pump was overhauled and all valves and the crankshaft were reground. New camshaft bearings were used along with new little end bushes. New heater plugs were fitted and the engine has only covered 1000 miles since rebuild.

Nearly all chrome work was replaced and the body was restored with two new wings. Doors and front wings did not require replacement. The car was painted and still has a stunning finish to it. The quality of paint work shows hours of dedication and detailed work.

The interior is very good with a new headlining and lovely original leather. An original taxi meter is still present and working.

An original Workshop manual and running and maintenance handbook is still with the vehicle. To add to this, the original buff logbook is present, showing the first owners as L.G Miller & Sons Ltd of Kings Cross.

Incredibly rare and difficult to find.
