This beautifully restored Austin Seven Tourer has been part of a small private museum collection in Derbyshire for the past three years. We know the Austin was sold in 1985 (advertised in The Automobile magazine) requiring full restoration. The car was sold from Bradford and the new owners in 1985 spent over ten years was rebuilding the car to an exceptional standard and since then the Seven has covered in the region of 2500 miles.
VG 8148 has stunning bodywork and lovely gleaming paintwork. Having being restored many years ago there are minor blemishes as expected with age but it's clear this is an Austin Seven that has been restored to a very high standard. The leather upholstery is in excellent order, the carpets, door cards and dashboard superb. The interior of the car is superbly trimmed and is of a very high standard. The hood and sidescreens are in excellent order and the engine bay is beautifully presented. Our Austin Seven is beautifully detailed and has a stunning finish.
Mechanically the Austin is very strong. Whilst it has not had much recent use, it has been well maintained and regularly serviced. In October 2014 it was treated to a new clutch and in June 2015 a new exhaust system, new points, plugs, leads, coil, engine mounts and a new Hardy Spicer propshaft. The engine runs beautifully, the gearbox is a delight to use and the Austin drives very well. This is a real collector's piece and the first Seven Tourer we've had for some time.
