1972 BMW 2002 tii

With real sportscar handling, high performance with fuel injection, room for four, a large boot and slick two door coupe style body, the BMW 2002 tii quickly gained status and now has become a real cult icon. The 2002 tii turned out to be a fabulous car for BMW, helping build on a strong
reputation for high design and build quality. The model makes a fabulous everyday car with a measure of sportiness and sophistication that demonstrated that performance means more than going fast in a straight line. This car is a true joy to drive and is happy with long distance touring having made holiday trips from the London area to Scotland on several occasions.

This enjoyable car has been owned by the same family for over twenty years. Several modifications for the comfort of regular use have been added. For example, nice E30 front seats and the expensive CSi steering wheel have added for looks too. Riding on minilight wheels give the car a real sporty look and the 'dog leg' 5 speed BMW gearbox has also been fitted at great expense. The car has had an exceptional body restoration many years ago and the underneath is very clean and solid.

An invoice file adds up to over £13000 within the past nine years and this  included an engine rebuild in 2003. Only 6000 miles have been covered since. The engine is outstanding as a result of a full rebuild including the crank being reground, new big end and main bearings, new pistons, double timing chain and oil pump.The clutch was also replaced at this point. All four injectors were replaced soon after totalling in excess of £3,000 for engine work. Over £10,000 has been spent on further mechanical improvements and some trim detail. All work is detailed in the history file along with MOT Certificates
dating back to 1986.

We have driven the 2002 tii from Essex and the car is a real joy to drive. Whilst this attractive car is not in concours condition, it can be used for everyday purposes, long distance rallying and would receive a good reception at any show. Certainly not the average or standard 2002, rather special in many ways.
