This outstanding Chevrolet Corvette C1 has been in the same ownership for 25 years and has been used for extensive overseas touring and many annual UK rallies and events. This car has a proven track record of long distance touring and has arrived with us in truly beautiful condition having being cherished and superbly kept over the past 25 years. The Corvette's long term owners lived between Florida and Cheshire for many years and it was in Merritt Island, Florida back in 1991 when the car was sourced. It was purchased from a lady who owned two C1 examples, both in the same colour scheme but one being manual transmission and the other automatic. This car, the manual example was shipped to Southampton docks and registered in the UK as XSV 787.
XSV 787 has been a very well known car on the Cheshire show scene but has also taken part in events such as the Circuit La Chatre in France on a regular basis. Many UK annual rallies were also covered each year such as the New Brighton Classic and the Trans Pennine Classic car run. The Corvette has also picked up substantial silverware over the years to include 'Best Classic Corvette' at Tatton Park in 1997, 2nd place at the same event in 2011, 'Highly Commended' award winner at the 2005 Hope Show and Best American car at both 2004 and 2015 6th and 43rd Andrew Greenwood's Cheshire Classic Event. The Corvette has been used extensively each summer season and the car has been maintained to the highest of standards and has covered in the region of 20,000 miles over the past 25 years. The Corvette has also been used for several TV productions, in particular in 2011 being filmed in the BBC Crime Drama Body Farm.
The C1 comes with a comprehensive history including all UK MOT certificates, annual invoices for parts and maintenance, parts coming from both UK and US Chevrolet specialists. Since coming to the UK, the car was fully re-painted to an exceptional standard. The paintwork was carried out in 1993 and today the finish is still impressive. The seats were re-covered in leather in 1993, in 2005 a front brake disc conversion was carried out to improve the car for long distance touring and in 2009 a new hood was fitted to the car. The car has also had a new radiator, new stainless steel exhaust and seat belts fitted. The Corvette also comes with a hard top that was purchased during the 1960's from Parrish Plastics who are now Smoothline Industries of Pittsburg and the car went back to Chevrolet back in 1966 for a larger 327ci block making this vehicle quite unique.
On the road XSV 787 is exceptional and it is no surprise the car has covered 20,000 faultless miles of touring. The engine is wonderful with outstanding performance, the manual gearbox superb to use and the car rides and handles perfectly. The front brake discs make a notable difference and improvement and the file of receipts show this car has been kept to the highest of standards. The presentation of the car is first class with stunning, clean bodywork with lovely straight panels. The older paintwork is remarkable, the chrome work first class and the interior is beautiful with rich, deep Red leather seats and excellent carpets, dashboard, door cards and soft top. The C1 is a hugely desirable model but not many come with this level of provenance. This is a very sought after motor car and its available and on the market for the first time in 25 years and the first time ever in the U.K. More details to follow.
