We are delighted to announce that on Wednesday 16th November we supplied a classic car to Children in Crisis, a charity we have supported since 1993
We have done this on two previous occasions back in 2000 with a Ford Mustang and in 2002 with a late MGB. The recent request came in early November and Children in Crisis picked out our Bronze Yellow MGB Roadster which was auctioned by Lord Geoffrey Archer.
Several days prior to the event the MG was booked into the workshop for a service and check over. It flew through MOT at our local test station Lowfield Garage and the final job in our workshop was to fit a brand new hood. By 11am on the Wednesday I was on the way and heading for the West End, Great Queen Street in Holborn to be specific. The MG performed perfectly and after three and half hours of continuous driving I stopped at London Gateway services on the M1. After a twenty minute stop I began the short but time consuming journey through London, queuing right through North London and across into the West End with no overheating. At around 4.30pm I arrived at Great Queen Street and found an underground car park until 6pm when I would be parking right outside the door of the venue. The MGB was soon to be covered in Children in Crisis balloons as guests arrived for the evenings events.
The event proved a real success with over £30,000 raised for the charity on the night. The MGB was one of nine interesting lots and was purchased for £5,500. The MGB was personally delivered to the new, excited owners the following day.
