This beautifully presented Daimler 250 V8 Saloon has been known to us for fifteen years and has been with its last owner since 2012 covering 2000 faultless miles over five years. The car was supplied new in New Zealand, distributed by Coutts in Auckland and its first owner was a Mr James Owen of Tauranga. In New Zealand the Daimler had long term owners; in fact two over 27 years and in 2003 was purchased by one of our long term customers living in New Zealand at the time. The Daimler had recently undergone a programme of restoration work which included a body restoration and when the owner re-located back to the UK, he brought the Daimler V8 with him.
Between 2005 and 2008 the Daimler was owned by a Jaguar/Daimler enthusiast in the North East of England and the Daimler was very much on the show and rally scene. Various improvements were made to include a new water pump and pulley, a full stainless steel exhaust system, new electric fuel pump and electronic ignition. The Daimler came back to us in part exchange in 2008 and we sold the car to another long term customer, a Yorkshire based lawyer who is involved with the Alvis Owners Club at board level. During three years of ownership the Daimler covered 3000 miles and was further improved with £4,500 of expenditure, mainly with a Jaguar specialist. This work includes regular servicing, front and rear shock absorbers, new exhaust mountings, the fitting of an original style air filter, rebuilding carburettors and a power steering conversion to include new rack, brackets, pump, hoses, reservoir, front pulley belt and poly bush mountings. All interior lights and dashboard lights work and door capping's were also professionally re-veneered and polished.
The Daimler returned in 2012 and was sold to the last owner. After many years since paintwork, the Daimler was ready for a full re-paint and this was carried out, along with a chrome wire wheel conversion for its most recent owner. Since 2012, the Daimler has covered 2000 miles and has been thoroughly enjoyed and has proven totally reliable, as it has for its previous owners. NWJ 358D has an exceptional bodyshell having spent 37 years in New Zealand and today presents exceptionally well with a stunning, first class paint finish. The bright work and chrome wire wheels are in lovely order and the upholstery presents superbly with lovely Red leather, good quality carpets, door cards and excellent woodwork. The car is excellent to drive with lovely light steering, a fabulous strong V8 engine, smooth automatic transmission and sharp brakes and handling. NWJ 358D is a fabulous car, it's hassle free to own, it presents superbly and is an absolute delight to drive. We've known this strong reliable Daimler for many years, and its owners over this time have all been delighted and come back to us to buy another classic as very happy customers.
