This beautifully presented Daimler Barker Special DHC was first registered on the 15th January 1952 and has been with its last owner for almost 40 years. The Daimler was sold new to a South Yorkshire Engineering Company and just two months after first registration ownership details changed. As the first registered keeper was a Limited Company, we believe the GET 997 was still with the first owner until the car moved from South Yorkshire to Norfolk in 1962. Mann Egerton & Co Ltd were registered owners in 1962 and we presume the Daimler was sold out of their showrooms and the car has remained in Norfolk until now.
The last owner bought the Daimler in the early 1970's in need of some improvement work. The Daimler was not registered during the 1970's but the original brown ‘buff' logbook is stamped in 1980 when GET 997 was put back on the road. The Daimler has had careful use since and we are told the mileage of 67000 is genuine.
The Daimler drives as a low mileage example should. The engine performs superbly with excellent performance from the ultra reliable 2.5 litre straight six engine. These engines are very strong and this unit sounds and performs superbly. The pre-select gearbox is delightful to use and the fluid flywheel seal has been replaced in recent years.
GET 997 presents very well with the original leather upholstery in beautiful condition. The Daimler has a superb hood and the body and paintwork are of a very good standard. The Daimler still retains its original number and comes with original ‘buff' logbook, some old MOT's and an original manual.
