We are delighted to offer this stunning Daimler DB18 Special Sports onto the market. Only 608 of these beautiful cars were ever built and are becoming increasingly harder to find this condition. This particular car was owned by an Essex based Lieutenant Colonel from the late 1970's and around twenty years later the car was exported to Spain. LVF 152 spent many years in Barcelona and was kept as a museum piece. Mileage cannot be guaranteed but previous owners suggest the recorded mileage of 37000 is correct based on the strong mechanical condition and general originality of the vehicle. We also know the Daimler spent many years unused whilst on display in Spain.
The Daimler is equipped with its correct six cylinder 2.5 litre overhead valve engine with twin carburettors, fluid flywheel and pre-select gearbox. The Daimler boasts an independent front suspension with wishbones and torsion bars and the rear is operated by a live rear axle with half elliptic springs. The braking system is the four wheel Girling hydro-mechanically operated drums. Coachbuilders Barker built the stunning shaped three seater drophead coupe body and the fast luxury tourer was fitted with a wonderful leather pleated upholstery with rear side seat and top quality soft top hood with a Sedanca style positioning. The Daimler is a true sporting open tourer with luxury and high quality in every respect.
LVF 152 presents very well with a lovely straight body with a deep, gleaming paint finish. The Daimler is structurally excellent with a solid, straight underside and from inspection its clear the Daimler has been well maintained and kept away from Britain's roads during the winter months. The chrome work is of a very good standard and the hood is in excellent order. The interior is truly outstanding with stunning leather, beautiful woodwork, excellent clean gauges and smart carpets and door cards. The engine bay is very smartly detailed with a polished finish.
On the road the Daimler doesn't disappoint. The six cylinder engine is super smooth, runs perfectly and offers impressive performance. The pre-selector gearbox functions correctly and changes up and down the gearbox correctly. The Daimler handles very well, brakes are efficient and the car cruises along gracefully keeping up with modern traffic. The Daimler is an ideal long distance grand open tourer and has a true feel of quality in terms of looks, comfort and performance.
