Following the end of WWII Daimler Cars continued production of their pre-war designed DB18 model. Daimler used the 2522cc six cylinder overhead valve engine with pre-selector fluid flywheel gearbox. Most DB18's were a standard four door saloons but a number of drophead coupe bodies were produced by Tickford and Barker.
This fabulous example was off the road for over 20 years until purchased by a local business owner in 2004. We believe the Daimler was off the road from the mid 1980's and are told the mileage of almost 70,000 could be genuine. The car was purchased in need of some cosmetic work and was professionally stripped down and re-painted in a stunning, solid light blue. The upholstery was completely re-trimmed with new leather and new carpets. A new hood was trimmed and fitted to the car and some chrome work sent away for renewing. The car was mechanically re-commissioned and since 2004 has covered less than 500 miles. The car has been driven locally throughout each summer and runs and drives perfectly. The six cylinder engine is very strong with good oil pressure and impressive performance. The pre-selector gearbox is smooth and has no major fluid leaks. The Daimler handles and brakes well and has been through MOT every year since 2004 with no advisories.
The Daimler presents beautifully with a lovely deep paint finish and an expensive, high quality interior. This example is lovely and original under the bonnet and the boot area is exceptionally clean. The Daimler is ideal for shows, weddings and long distance touring due to the strong mechanical condition of the car.
