WDB 200 was manufactured on the 5th May 1960 and was supplied new by Northampton Motors on the 10th May 1960. The Daimler is still with its original registration mark and we have an original 'buff' logbook dating back to 1969 with the car.
This Daimler Dart was supplied by us to a West Yorkshire Veterinary Surgeon in 2007. WDB 200 is an outstanding example that has been subject of a major 1980's restoration. The car drives superbly and is further enhanced by the recommended, expensive rack and pinion steering conversion. With other sensible upgrades such as servo assisted brakes and electrical cooling fan, the Daimler is a car that really can be used for longer distance touring with the added reliability and safety given with such upgrades. The Daimler also comes with both high quality soft top and valuable hard top.
The Dart is quite simply outstanding to drive and benefits from a recent £5000 engine rebuild. The work was carried out by Jaguar specialists in 2011 and included a rebore, crankshaft re-grind, new pistons, rings, main and big end bearings. The oil pump was overhauled, as was the timing gear and other serviceable items. The cylinder heads were inspected; valve stems found to be in very good order and modified valve guides fitted. Since the engine rebuild around 1000 miles have been completed and the engine sounds and feels outstanding. Performance is exceptional, the car is quick with powerful acceleration and the car keeps perfect temperature with excellent oil pressure. The Dart is outstanding on the road with precise steering, superb brakes and a tight gearbox with excellent synchromesh in all gears. The Dart sounds terrific and is fantastic fun to drive.
In 2013 the Daimler was treated to a full professional re-paint at a cost in the region of £3,000. As a result the Dart has a first class, stunning paint finish and an excellent straight body shell. The chrome work is excellent, wheels and tyres are in very good order and the Daimler presents superbly. The Dart has also recently had two modern seats fitted which have proven much more comfortable for long distance touring. The original seats are with the car and can be re-fitted for the next owner if desired. The interior is very sharp with smart carpets, door cards and dashboard. The engine bay is very clean, as is the boot compartment and the Daimler offers an all-round excellent package. Whether the car is bought for long distance touring, good weather weekend use or showing, we are confident the car will prove a wonderful purchase.
