This is without doubt the most outstanding Daimler V8 Saloon we have offered onto the market. This truly wonderful motor car was first registered on the 3rd March 1969 and first owned by a London solicitor. The Daimler was later sold to an Army Officer in Norfolk before selling the car to a long term owner in Newcastle back in 1981 who had the car rebuilt to a top class standard. The long term owner only managed to cover 550 miles in the car but since we sold the car in early 2015 to a local regular customer the Daimler has covered a further 1800 faultless miles.
WPK 6G was purchased by its long term owner in 1981 as a totally rust free, original car with a mileage of fewer than 40,000. The Daimler has since been subject of an extensive no expense spared restoration to show standard condition. The body was stripped down and found to be totally original and never subject of any welding work or repairs. The shell was beautifully re-painted and re-fitted with new or re-chromed bright work. New windscreen rubbers were fitted, genuine Jaguar door seals were sourced and fitted and the engine bay detailed with the engine removed. Mechanically the Daimler was treated to a brake overhaul that included new discs and calipers. New rear springs, leather spring gaiters, suspension bushes and a brand new stainless steel exhaust system were also fitted to the car. The V8 engine was overhauled and new valve stem oil seals fitted, the automatic gearbox was rebuilt and all mechanical aspects of the car checked. The interior was treated to new carpets, a new headlining, new fur flex door seal trims and the woodwork re-lacquered. The original leather seats and door cards were found to be in lovely order.
The Daimler presents superbly with a truly magnificent bodyshell with exceptional door fit and panel gaps. The paintwork has an outstanding glass finish and the chrome work is first class. The glass is all in excellent order and the underside presents superbly. Floor pans, sills, jacking points, cross member and ‘crows feet' are original and outstanding, the brakes and suspension present as almost new and the underside finish is as you would expect of a car that could win events. The last owner had a ramp in his garage so it could be cleaned and detailed underneath. The interior is top class with stunning original leather, excellent door cards, carpets and beautiful woodwork and headlining. The Daimler retains its original steel wheels that are in excellent order and the car is fitted with correct Vredestein tyres. WPK 6G is delightful in the detail with a show standard engine bay and stunning boot area with original jack and tool roll.
WPK 6G is mechanically first class as expected. The engine holds correct oil pressure, the gearbox is as new and all the brakes and suspension are as new. The power steering works perfectly, many of the mechanical components are brand new and the Daimler is quite simply exceptional to drive. This is without doubt the very best Daimler we have offered onto the market and it is a true collector's piece that has only covered 2400 miles since restoration.
