We are delighted to offer this stunning, genuine Fiat Abarth onto the market. This car was built in April 1966 and letters from Fiat Turin and the Automobile Club D’Italia confirm the build date and chassis number of this car. On completion of build the Fiat went to Abarth in Turin and in 1967 was registered and sold new in Italy. Carlo Abarth' tuning provided more power, a top speed of around 80mph and ultimately these highly tuned cars were successfully raced against much more powerful rivals. Our genuine example still retains its original chassis plate and stamped numbers on the inner shell arch.
We have records to confirm the Fiat bodyshell was rebuilt in Italy in 1997/1998 and in July 1999 the car was imported into the UK. The Abarth was brought into the UK by Chelsea based Fiat specialists and sold to its first UK owner in September 1999. Invoices for thousands of pounds worth of work with specialists Lanzante Ltd are with the history dating between 2000 and 2002. In 2003 the Abarth sold to its second owner in the UK who kept the car for eleven years. Notable expenditure during the early part of his ownership was for a brand new, fully rebuilt engine uprated to 695cc with Middle Barton Garage in Oxfordshire. Invoices are present confirming new con rod bearings, forged pistons, new cam, camshaft followers, re-faced cylinder head, refaced valves, valve guides, recut valve seats, refaced barrels, various machining, alloy oil pan and uprated clutch assembly. Mid Barton Garage also supplied new front and rear shock absorbers, new twin pipe exhaust, king pin repair kit, carb rebuild kit and various ignition items and external trims to include new sunroof and frame.
The Fiat has come to us absolutely on the button and in beautifully detailed condition. The Abarth looks fabulous with original 12 inch alloys below the Group 2 wheel arches, the interior is first class with gorgeous bucket seats, Jaeger dials, Mid Barton supplied steering wheel and the various Abarth badging. Paintwork is top class, the bodywork excellent with superb panel gaps and on the road OGC 247D is super-fast with its strong, fit rebuilt 595 engine. The gearbox is excellent, handling and braking first class, the car sounds terrific and is ready for its next owner to have some serious fun. This is a wonderful piece of kit, a beautifully presented and detailed car that is absolutely on the button, properly prepared and set up to offer impressive performance.
