1911 Flanders 2 Seat Tourer
The E-M-F company was an early American automobile manufacturer that produced automobiles from 1909 to 1912. The name E-M-F was the initials of the three company founders: Barney Everitt - an auto body builder. William Metzger - formerly of Cadillac and Walter Flanders who had served as Henry Ford's production manager. By 1909 E-M-F was the fourth largest car manufacturer in the USA but was plagued by qulaity problems. Most cars were sold through the Studebaker network. John Studebaker took control of the company in 1910, spent $1 Million on sending out technicians to fix the cars. By 1911 qulity was improving and our car is the Flanders 20 with the more reliable 3 speed gearbox and a 4 cylinder engine. Although more expensive than the Model T the flanders was considerably easier to drive. Restored many years ago, our car's restoration has aged nicely and the car has proved capable of distance driving.
