1949 Ford F3 Pickup Truck

We are delighted to offer this truly outstanding Ford F3 Pickup truck onto the market. The Ford has been rebuilt to the highest of standards with no expense spared and since completion in 2000 has been mainly used for shows and events in the North East. The Ford had spent many years with a farming family in Texas before being sold to the one UK owner who bought the truck whilst over in the USA when working for Shell as a consultant engineer.

The Ford was purchased in 1997 and weekends in the US were spent dismantling the truck for renovation, all of the body panels were removed and shot blasted to bare metal, put into prima and re-assembled in preparation for shipment to the UK. All new steel running boards were fitted and all of the window glass and door seals were replaced. The interior of the truck was removed and the seats re-upholstered and the cab linings were replaced. New oak boards and stainless steel strips were fitted to the truck bed and bushes to bed frame dampeners were replaced. The brakes and clutch were re-lined and the Ford then in roadworthy condition. Shortly before leaving the Gulf Coast and whilst driving the truck, the owner had major engine problems. With just weeks before returning to the UK, the owner found a short engine, fitted with hardened valve seats for the use of unleaded petrol and it was delivered to his local garage for fitting to the truck with new engine mounts, water pump and clutch plate. Upon arrival in the UK in June 1998 the Ford was driven faultlessly from Felixstowe to Hartlepool.

Once in the North East, the truck was fully painted in Fire Engine Red and completely re-wired with new harnesses and all new bulbs, 6 volt battery, voltage regulator, generator, plugs, points and indicators and hazards fitted for safety. Over the years the tuck has been meticulously maintained and treated to many new parts to include a new stainless steel exhaust system, all new brake components including new shoes, linings, springs, wheel cylinders and brake master. cylinder. More recently the Ford has had a further £5000 plus spent on a rebuilt rear axle and rebuilt gearbox so there is no doubt this example is in exceptional mechanical order. This stunning F3 is exceptional on the road and can be driven with absolute confidence. With an excellent engine, transmission and superb brakes and suspension, this is a vehicle that just requires using and enjoying.

YSJ 222 presents superbly with an excellent body and stunning gleaming Red paintwork. The truck has been carefully restored and is a true credit to its one UK owner. Chrome work, new hub caps and badges are all superb, the interior is nicely finished and engine bay, engine and rear truck bed are all in lovely order and this has to be if not the very best, but one of the best Ford F3 trucks in the UK. This is a beautiful machine and has been a wonderful long term project that has given its owner years of pleasure. The truck is accompanied by an invoice file, magazine feature, original handbook and workshop manual.
