1974 Gilbern Invader MKIII
With it’s factory in Llantwit, South Wales, Gilbern is a Welsh company founded in the late 1950’s. In December 1971, design work for the Gilbern began, and was released the following year, in September 1972. The majority of mechanical components came from Ford, and the suspension was based on the MKIII Cortina with a modified rear axle. The car was to be sold only in fully built form.
This is said to be one of the best three in the country. This rare sought after car has recently had a £2000 major transmission overhaul, and the 4 speed gearbox, overdrive and 3 litre V6 engine are in excellent order. The general condition is excellent, and I am sure it will be quite difficult to find a better example.
