1969 Jaguar 240

This 1998 Jaguar Driver's Club Concours De Elegance winning 240 shows clear quality and originality on immediate first glance. Clearly not the least expensive on the market, this original Warwick Grey car has bodywork and panel fit that cannot be easily repeated. It takes a remarkably original car to achieve such impressive shut lines and whilst not concours, it's the originality, patina and attention to detail that has earned this wonderful car such recognition in the Concours De Elegance and various other shows in which the car has been rewarded with prizes. Lovely older paint gives the car real honesty and whilst there is evidence of some very light micro-blistering, any faults with paintwork sound over critical when describing a car so honest, clean and sharp.

From the Jaguar Heritage Trust we know the car was distributed by Henlys London and sold new by Braid Brothers Ltd. The first owner in Cheshire took delivery of this manual Warwick Grey car in April 1969.  This car, chassis number 1J4712 is still with the original allocated registration mark of KMB 757G and original Jaguar owners pack consisting of handbook, sales and service facilities handbook and lubricant chart. It is also pleasing to see the original tool kit and jack are still with the car. MOT certificates are with the car dating back to 1983 when the car recorded a mileage of 49,484. The current recorded mileage of over 65,000 would appear (but cannot be guaranteed) to be genuine and is certainly in keeping with the sensational original upholstery. A photographic record accompanies the car displaying some detailing work carried out in 1998. The engine bay was completely stripped and taken back to bare metal. The complete under bonnet area was then re-painted and detailed to an excellent standard, in keeping with the lovely bodywork and untouched interior. All under bonnet parts were cleaned and some replaced. Chrome wire wheels have been fitted for enhanced looks and the radio re-conditioned by the Vintage Wireless Company.

The Jaguar does not disapoint on the road either. General performance is very good and the car is ideal for regular use. The 240 happily cruises at 70mph and the engine has a superb feel and sound to it. The ride and handling is excellent and makes this a car you really want to use.

Hard to find quality, originality and pedigree like this.
