1962 Jaguar E-Type 3.8 Series I Roadster

Offered here is an original UK flat floor 3.8 E-Type Roadster, arguably the most valuable E-Type model of all. 9045 AP has good documentation along with a Jaguar Heritage Trust Certificate stating the car was originally supplied new by Henlys London as a RHD manual car in red with black upholstery and hood. Also pleasing are the matching numbers of the chassis, block and cylinder head. The original MOSS gearbox is also still in the car.

This particular E-Type is quite special considering that in May 2009, the engine was fully stripped down and rebuilt at the cost of £8,500c. Included in this cost were many upgrades making this E-Type an outstanding driving
car with the most exceptional sounding and performing engine. A full rebuild included a crankshaft re-ground and modification with the expensive rear seal conversion kit. New Main bearings, Big end bearings and 9:1 Pistons were fitted along with a new set of valve springs and new inlet and exhaust valves for a conversion to unleaded. Modifications included a spin on oil filter, uprated fan, uprated starter motor, high flow oil pump and  twin exhaust silencer assembly. A full photographic record has been kept and this
is presented in an album with the rest of the history file. The car has covered under 500 miles since this work.

The body looks superb with very good panel fit and alignment. The paint work is of good quality and the underneath of the car is excellent with clean and solid appearance. The interior is clean with excellent carpets, dash top and aluminium. The leather seats appear original and the steering wheel is like new. The black mohair hood is excellent with a clear window. Chrome work is good and the set of chrome wire wheels are not new, but still very good.

9045 AP makes a wonderful touring car and would happily cross Europe year after year. This has to be a driver's car now such time and effort has gone into an engine that really wants to be used. This E-Type is incredibly desirable and doesn't need any improvement unless concours show winning condition or track racing is planned.

A stunning car that can be used and really enjoyed.
