This beautifully presented early E-Type Roadster was manufactured on the 13th June 1963 and was distributed by Jaguar Cars New York. The E-Type left the factory in Carmen Red with grey upholstery, black hood and was supplied to the first owner in Inglewood, California and stayed in the U.S for 34 years. The E-Type arrived from the U.S in very original, solid condition with an excellent original tub and AJM 456A was registered in the UK in 1997 and restored around ten years ago and today comes with a Jaguar Daimler Heritage Trust Certificate, MOT's dating back to 2001 and an invoice file detailing recent expenditure.
This stunning example has been with its last owner in the Glasgow area for the past ten years and has covered around 9000 miles since 2001. The E-Type has been kept in regular use and recently attended the annual classic car rally at the National Museum of Rural Life in East Kilbride, Glasgow. This example is an exceptional driver and has some excellent upgrades suiting a buyer for an early E-Type with regular use and long distance touring in mind. This car has the later Jaguar all syncro gearbox, Coopercraft brakes on both the front and rear, Gaz adjustable shock absorbers, electronic ignition and an uprated fuel pump.
The car performs faultlessly with a strong rebuilt engine holding perfect oil pressure. The all syncro box is a delight to use with smooth changes and the Coopercraft upgrades really do work efficiently with sharp, keen braking. Driving the car is a truly fantastic experience and will not disappoint, this is an E-Type that should be driven and has proven reliability and consistent use over the past ten years. This is a car to be used for long distance touring and would make the perfect car for on the Continent touring with the option of the putting down the recently replaced black mohair hood. AJM 456A is immaculate with a high level of detail and it is no surprise that the driving quality matches the high standards that first impressions set.
On inspecting the car, it is pleasing to see lovely panel gaps and high quality door shuts. The body is beautifully straight with a stunning underside. The Carmen Red paintwork is pristine with a top class finish and the chrome work is of a beautiful standard. As you would expect, the floors are exceptional and from inspecting underneath we can see the rear axle has been totally stripped and rebuilt. The chrome wire wheels are in superb condition and the professionally fitted biscuit leather upholstery is in excellent order. The engine bay is detailed with a sharp, clean engine, bright ancillaries and superbly painted frame as you would expect with a car of this quality.
This is an excellent opportunity to own a highly desirable genuine 3.8 model E-Type Roadster that is ready to drive away and enjoy at a very sensible price.
