1964 Jaguar E-Type Series I 4.2 FHC

This fabulous driving matching numbers Jaguar E-Type is a very early Series One 4.2 model. The car was manufactured on the 19th August 1964 and is chassis number 30014, number 14 that was built for export. This E-Type was supplied new by Jaguar Cars New York and left the factory in Old English White with Black trim. The car was imported into the UK in 1991 and has had just one owner based in North Yorkshire since arriving in the UK.

Over the past 22 years the E-Type has had thousands of pounds spent on maintenance, upkeep and restoration work. This FHC has covered in the region of 20,000 miles in the UK and is an ideal car for long distance touring and regular use. We have MOT certificates back to 1991 confirming the mileage and a comprehensive invoice file detailing expenditure over the years. The E-Type has some desirable upgrades such as Coopercraft brakes and electronic ignition and larger invoices for re-trimming and an engine rebuild are worth noting. The car has been maintained with no expense spared and this is not only evident in the history file, it is evident in the way in which it drives. This E-Type handles perfectly with a firm suspension, the precise steering contributes to an effortless drive and the strong engine holding superb oil pressure pulls tremendously well offering fantastic power and performance. The all syncro four speed gearbox is delightfully nice to use and whilst driving it is pleasing to see all the gauges work and the temperature stays correct.

This very desirable 4.2 FHC presents well with a superb, straight bodyshell. The doors close and fit perfectly, the bonnet and tailgate are in excellent order and the underside is impressive with painted floors. The chrome work has not been replaced for many years but is still bright and presentable, the painted wire wheels are in very good order and the Webasto sunroof very smart. The engine bay presents as a good, strong, original car and the interior is lovely with excellent black leather seats, excellent carpets and door cards.

This is a rare opportunity to purchase a very early 4.2 FHC that has had no expense spared. The car has proven reliability, has had regular use over the past 22 years and has an excellent bodyshell and running gear. The car is sensibly priced and offers excellent value.

Due in next week.
