This is a very desirable UK supplied example with just 63,500 miles from new, matching numbers, original colours and whilst largely original, has had £25000 spent with its most recent owner since 2008. PGU 576K was manufactured on the 29th September 1971 with automatic transmission, finished in Light Blue with Dark Blue leather upholstery. The E-Type was supplied new by Henlys Limited, London and was sold new to Restnor Limited in Surrey. Still with the car is the original Passport to Service booklet recording fifteen services by Henleys in the cars early life. There are also various invoices from Henlys from the late 1970’s so we can confirm the car has history from new. MOT’s and service invoices and maintenance bills throughout the 70’s, 80’s, 90’s and 2000’s warrant the lovely low mileage and a typed up log is with the history for quick reference. The E-Type has been a garaged car from new and although a very low mileage car, it has never been long term off the road.
The most recent owner bought the E-Type in 2008 and has covered 8000 miles in the car. It has driven to us beautifully from the North Yorkshire/Durham borders and is a car ideal for regular use. PGU 576K is strong mechanically and having had £25,000 spent in recent years, it is a car that can be driven with confidence. Detailed invoices thoroughly document the work that has gone into the E-Type and one of the first jobs in 2008 was having the brakes overhauled. Front brakes, servo and master cylinder were all reconditioned/replaced and the rear brakes and suspension stripped down and rebuilt. A stainless steel exhaust system and manifolds were also fitted. In 2011 the original gearbox was removed and completely rebuilt and one year later the engine had major work for the first time. The cylinder heads were both removed and rebuilt and further improvements included new silicone hoses and Evans Waterless Coolant. The E-Type has also had an uprated water pump, new rear dampers, a new vacuum retard unit and a Thatcham 1 immobiliser fitted. Cosmetic improvements include re-furbishing seats and fitting new stainless steel wire wheels.
PGU 576K is a very honest car. It is still in its original colour scheme and the body is completely solid and largely original with no major issues. The Light Blue paintwork is of a very good standard and has clearly been re-painted at some point in its life prior to selling to the most recent owner in 2008. Wheel arches, lower wings and door bottoms are in very good order and the E-Type has nice straight panels. This has never been a car left to deteriorate and as a result has a strong, straight original shell. Chrome work is smart and of a very good standard and the engine bay and boot area very clean. The spare wheel well is totally solid and original and the interior is delightful with gorgeous leather seats, lovely carpets, door cards, dash and headlining. The interior represents a low mileage car and features such as a full Webasto sunroof really enhance the car even further. This is a great opportunity to purchase a sensibly priced E-Type has all the strengths looked for in any classic car. It has low mileage, is still in factory specification, has never required full restoration and it also has a superb history file to include all original handbooks and service book. This is not one to miss and it won't disappoint on the road either. The V12 engine is beautiful, sweet and holding great oil pressure, the rebuilt auto box is perfect and with effortless power steering and with sharp brakes and a properly set up suspension, the car is wonderful to drive.
