This MKII is the ultimate long distance touring car and is quite simply exceptional to drive. This uprated 3.4 has extensively toured France on a regular basis and has covered 27,000 miles since being purchased in 1987 from its one lady owner. The Jaguar was first registered on the 11th May 1965 and left the factory in Dark Blue with Grey leather and steel wheels. CWV 59C was purchased new by a lady in Wiltshire who kept the car in totally original order covering around 75000 miles up to selling the car in 1987 to the most recent owner. The original 'buff' logbook is still with the car, as is the original service book containing 10 service stamps.
With just two owners and the last owner keeping the car for almost 28 years, there is no doubt the car has been incredibly well maintained and well looked after. To reliably tour into Europe so often shows the confidence the previous owner had in the car and we are told it has claimed many JEC awards. Over the years it has been radically improved with the long term owner fitting a re-conditioned 3.4 engine and rear axle for more relaxed cruising and further power. The brakes and suspension have been superbly maintained and the car has driven to us from Cheshire on two occasions and performs faultlessly. On arrival, we can report a faultless road test with a wonderful raspy exhaust note, superb strong powerful engine holding excellent oil pressure and a smooth four speed gearbox with overdrive. There is a comprehensive file of invoices with the car showing regular maintenance and the previous owner has been meticulous in keeping the car in top mechanical order ready for its next long trip.
In 2012 the MKII was treated to a bare metal re-paint that included removal of all brightwork and the doors. The car was ready for fresh paintwork and any new metal work required was taken care of. There are photos recording the work and several years on from this we can report a stunning gleaming paint finish and excellent straight panels. The door fit is superb and the car has wonderful straight lines right throughout the car. Chromework has all been replaced, as have all the tyres. The underside is structurally superb and correct and presents well. There are lovely signs of originality with this car too; it still retains its tool kit, originally supplied registration mark and importantly original upholstery. The leather has delightfully aged and recently the Jaguar has had the original carpets replaced having lasted 51 years. The engine bay has a nicely used look whilst being well presented and the boot and rear mat are in lovely order. This is a special car, it has to be as good as they come driving wise and it presents beautifully. This car is perfect for on the Continent touring, it has proven reliable, great fun and it can be driven anywhere with confidence. This is a superbly fettled car and it needs to be driven.
