1962 Jaguar MKII 4.2 Manual with Overdrive

WSA 138 is a very quick, highly uprated MKII Jaguar with Coombs styling. The car started life finished Sherwood Green and still today retains its original Suede Green leather. The Jaguar was manufactured on the 6th June 1962 so is a relatively early car that was supplied new by Cumming and Dempster, Banchory, distributed by Rossleigh, Aberdeen and first owned by a Mr D Thompson of Ruthven, Huntly in Aberdeenshire.

With a louvred bonnet, Coombs spats, competition body coloured painted wire wheels and its original colour of Green, this car does look spectacular and very much like a Coombs car. What is even more impressive is the way this car drives. Fitted with a Jaguar 4.2 litre engine, this MKII has performance closer to a Series II E-Type and is very quick. The MKII has also been fitted with an XK150S rear axle, bigger brakes, electronic ignition and uprated fan. WSA 138 also boasts power assisted steering, an all syncro gearbox with overdrive and is the ultimate driving experience. It's a super fast car with a glorious sweet engine that holds superb oil pressure and really pulls through the gears with awesome power. The gearbox is super smooth, the overdrives flicks in and out nicely and brakes are much improved from standard specification. WSA 138 arrived with us and was immediately taken out on a 60 mile road test which was truly outstanding in every respect.

Whilst the car is highly upgraded, it does still retain a great deal of originality. Much of the bodywork is original and is structurally outstanding. The original floors are excellent, sills, jacking points and doors are superb and the shell is beautifully straight with excellent gaps. The paint finish is gleaming and of a very high standard, the engine bay and boot paintwork are also superb and the underside very sharp, clean and well presented. The interior retains its original Suede Green leather seats, carpets and headlining are excellent and have been replaced, woodwork is original and presentable, as are door cards. WSA 138 is perfect to use and enjoy, it's an ideal regular use or long distance touring car. This is a car to test drive, it's just glorious on the road and whilst it is so much fun, it does also look outstanding and is a very appealing car. This is the sort of car you will want to drive everyday, it just gets better and better and the higher revs the more fun it becomes.
