This stunning, low mileage and original Jaguar MKIX was supplied new by W L Thompson, Jaguar House, Hull on the 27th April 1961. 5680 AT was sold new for £2101 and this included just over £49 for the optional Reutter reclining front seat and a little less for a HMV radio complete with twin speakers and wind up aerial. The Jaguar was sold new to a gentleman in the Willerby district of Hull who owned the car for the rest of his life. He passed away in 1980 when the mileage from new was just 38,500 and it was two years later when the car was sold to its second owner in the South Cave area of Hull. It was purchased in totally original, lovely condition but due to the recent lack of use required some mechanical re-commissioning work. The new owner treated the car to full underbody rust proofing and fitted a stainless steel exhaust system. 5680 AT stayed with its second owner for 28 years and covered just 10,000 miles. In 2010 the Jaguar sold to a collector, also based in Hull who has covered minimal mileage in the car. The vehicle has now covered just 49000 miles and is a true time warp with wonderful original upholstery. The Red leather seats are fabulous, woodwork, carpets, door cards are all excellent and the car even retains its original tools and boot mat and spare wheel cover.
The body on this impressive Jaguar is very original and it has excellent straight panels and lovely paintwork. The underside is structurally excellent and it is quite clear from the under body that this car has spent the most of its life in a garage, well looked after and well away from salty roads in the winter. This has clearly been the pride and joy for its few owners and finding another original, low mileage, low ownership example would prove very difficult. The Jaguar has a true provenance and has the ideal history for a collector or Jaguar enthusiast. With the car is the original Jaguar supplied warranty card with first owner details, MOT tests dating back to 1978, tax discs back to 1979, maintenance invoices and an Operating, Maintenance and Service handbook. We have invoices for regular maintenance work throughout the 1990's and more recent invoices for ball joint assemblies and brake re-commissioning.
Having covered very few miles since 2010, the Jaguar has just completed a programme of work to include re-conditioning the power assisted steering system, re-conditioned brake calipers. The Jaguar now has a brand new power steering pump and cosmetic work to include detailing the engine bay and re-chroming the front and rear bumpers has also been carried out. This is a wonderful rare opportunity to purchase a first class low mileage Jaguar MKIX that will be supplied with a full 12 months MOT, full service and function check.
