1967 Jaguar S-Type 3.4 Manual O/D

Having being launched in 1962, the S'Type slotted into the Jaguar range between the MKII and MKX. Two XK engineered models were available, the 3.8 from launch, and the 3.4 from 1964. Derived from the Mark II, the S-Type featured a longer, flatter roofline with a more upright rear window and a restyled rear end. This improved interior space and provided a more capacious and practical luggage compartment. The revised front end styling comprised new grille, cowled headlights, recessed spotlamps and wrap round flashers. Both 3.4 and 3.8 engines were shared with Mark 2, as was the front suspension. However, Independent rear suspension (derived from the E-TYPE and Mark X) by coil-springs and with a separate mounting frame gave the S-Type class-leading ride and handling characteristics and exceptional refinement. Both models were available with a four-speed manual gearbox, with optional overdrive and optional three speed Borg Warner automatic.

This stunning example has an excellent bodyshell with very good panel alignment and door fit. The paintwork is of a very high standard and chrome work is exceptional. The car presents beautifully and retains a fabulous looking upholstery with lovely aged red leather seats.

The S'Type comes with a comprehensive history and has had a low number of owners. The Jaguar has been driven over to us from Lancashire and has been recently maintained by a Yorkshire Jaguar specialist. The car is a beautiful driver and with power steering, efficient braking and a strong, powerful engine and slick gear change, this Jaguar is a true delight to use and enjoy. In recent years the Jaguar has been subject of some major mechanical work including a full engine rebuild. More recently the S'Type has been fitted with electronic ignition and has all new hoses and belts.

A top quality S'Type capable of driving anywhere.

Testimonial from new owner...

"A previous owner had re-sprayed the car but had not replicated the correct shade. So in January 2012 the car was entrusted to Malton Coachworks for a total re-spray. The original colour had been discontinued bu..." FULL testimonial here
