1970 Jaguar XJ6 Series I 4.2 Manual O/D

This stunning 53,000 mile from new Series One XJ6 was formerly property of the Thomas Black Collection. In 1998 the Jaguar was sold to Stephen Battye for Skopos, The Yorkshire Motor Museum Collection.

From 1998 to 2005 the Jaguar was subject of a complete restoration at the museum. The car was put back on the road in 2005 with a mileage of 37,715 and since then maintained at the museum with 3,000 mile service intervals.

The body was fully stripped down including removal of all glass. The body was fully rust proofed, re-painted and built up. The original upholstery required very little improvement but the headlining was replaced. The engine was rebuilt and both front and rear suspension rebuilt to include new discs, bearings, springs, shock absorbers and universal joints. The final drive unit was changed to 3.31:1 limited slip and all brake linings and flexi hoses replaced. Fuel tanks were cleaned out and the later 'Pepper Pot' alloy wheels re-furbished and new Dunlop 205/70R 15 tyres fitted. Further work included the fitting of new headlamps, rebuilt fuel pumps and replaced sender units.

Overall this is an exceptional car that has been restored with no expense spared. Not only does this car look something special, once behind the wheel it is clear this car is amongst the best early XJ6's we've had. The performance and handling are exactly what you would of expect of a top class low mileage vehicle and this sought after example does not dissappoint.
