This stunning Jaguar XJ6 Series One 4.2 Manual with Overdrive has covered just 57,000 miles from and comes with an exceptional history to include original bill of sale, MOT’s, service book and schedules, Jaguar correspondence, invoices and original tool kit. The car presents superbly with a very original look to it, still in its factory colour of Warwick Grey and retaining its original Red leather trim. The car supplied new by Lex Mead Cardiff on the 11th July 1972 as a 2.8 manual with heated rear window, Sundym glass, intertia seat belts and Endrust treatment.
The first owner kept the car from 1972 to 2000 and the second owner for 17 years. The most recent owner is a close family friend who has spent several thousand pounds taking the car to a beautiful standard. As mentioned above, the Jaguar has the most exceptional history with every receipt and invoice supplied with the car. On reading through the history, as was common with the 2.8 units, it did fail in the cars early life. Jaguar replaced the engine and it failed again in 1986 when the car had covered 40,000 miles. Jaguar then replaced the engine for a second time but this time with a brand new 4.2 litre unit. The brakes were also upgraded to 4.2 format complete with supporting paperwork for the upgrade.
The Jaguar has been kept in a heated garage most of its life and that would explain the beautiful straight bodywork. The Jaguar has had the paint flatted back and any remedial repairs undertaken and due to excellent original bodywork, very few repairs were carried out. The re-spray was carried out using the correct original colour, Warwick Grey and the wheels refurbished. The interior has been treated and the car has a beautiful original looking finish. The car has recently been with top West Yorkshire Jaguar specialists and has had over £2000 spent on removal of the engine, the engine fixtures and fittings detailed whilst out of the car, the engine bay fixtures refurbished, new windscreen seals, new headlining, new carpets new coolant hoses and thorough service and MOT. As result the Jaguar is look its very best as a largely original, not fully restored honest car.
The new 4.2 engine has only covered 17000 miles and is in excellent order. The Jaguar is a delight to drive with excellent performance, road holding and brakes. From the paperwork we can see that recently the car has had the carbs stripped and cleaned along with fuel lines and tanks, the water pump replaced, steering rack replaced and from the down pipe a stainless steel exhaust system is in place. This is a fabulous driving car, its remarkably honest and original and with a 17000 mile from new Jaguar supplied engine and just a total of 57000 miles in total adding to the excellent provenance and history, this really is a great buy.
