This is an incredibly rare car being 1 of just 350 manual Pre HE XJS cars ever built and this is the model tipped by many experts to be the one to buy in terms of future value potential and desirability. The manual Pre HE cars are difficult to find and are now widely publicised as attracting strong attention considering they are more scarce than a flat floor outside bonnet lock E-Type. This stunning example was first registered on the 1st April 1976 and has only had five owners from new and a recorded mileage of 70,000 that is commensurate with the largely original upholstery.
JSS 955N has recently been treated to some serious restoration and re-commissioning works. Whilst since 2005 it has covered 3000 miles, it was off the road unused between 2011 and 2015 and from MOT records we know between 2005 and 2011 and in 2015 and 2016 the XJS required lots of work to keep it roadworthy. In late 2017 and early 2018 the XJS was taken to a highly regarded Jaguar specialists and has been treated to no expense spared program of work. The rust prone Jaguar body has been completely stripped with removal of all external parts and subject of a top class bare metal full re-paint after required body repairs were carried out. The engine bay was nicely detailed with various ancillaries painted and a new set of correct alloy wheels fitted. The completely original interior was treated to a brand-new headlining so the XJS does present now as a beautifully kept and largely original low mileage car. The original leather has been cleaned and treated with hide food to retain a lovely patina that's very hard to replicate.
Mechanically the XJS was fully checked over and all major running gear found to be in excellent order as expected with the low mileage. The engine is excellent holding correct oil pressure, the four-speed manual gearbox is first class, the clutch was replaced around 2000 miles back so the required work was mainly to the braking system. The XJS has been treated to new front discs and pads and the rear subframe removed for fitting to brand new brake calipers. General re-commissioning to include all new coolant hoses, V mounts and water pump, power steering and air-conditioning belts were recommended and replaced. Adding to this we have reciepts for new front discs and pads, rear wheel bearings, rear differential gasket, boot struts, bonnet gas struts, speedo angle drive and exhaust mounts.
This exciting proposition is looking superb with a super straight, sharp body with excellent panels and a deep high-quality paint finish. The engine bay is equally as impressive and the interior lovely and very genuine with nicely aged leather, superb dashboard and new headlining. The boot compartment appears original with correct spare wheel and battery covers.
