The Jaguar XK140 was among the fastest cars of its generation, capable of over 130mph and it focused public consciousness on Jaguar’s success at Le Mans throughout this period. The XK Jaguar has become one of the most celebrated classics of all time, selling well in both the U.S and UK. The XK140 was launched in 1954 and gained more power on the XK120 (190BHP as standard), had bigger bumpers and importantly came with rack and pinion steering. The XK140 FHC also had rear seats.
This particular example is a fabulous driving car that has spent the last few years touring the U.K. Over the past two years the car has had in the region of £10,000 spent with a Jaguar Specialist. Upgrades include a front brake disc conversion that suits the car in terms of its desirability for regular use. The XK also has the fabulous 5 speed Getrag gearbox, again making this car fabulous for long distance touring. HRN 620, a UK car is an older restoration that benefited from a body off restoration in the late 1980’s. Parts renewed/replaced included a complete rear assembly with wings and sills, front bulk head members, front wings, door skins and light pods. The engine was rebored, crank re-ground and had a new oil pump, water pump and clutch bearing.
The interior is in beautiful order as a result of a new headlining, new carpets and the seats being re-upholstered in red leather. The walnut looks exceptional as this has been veneered and varnished at the time of restoration. This XK140 still holds its original registration and comes with a Heritage Certificate amongst much other history. The older paintwork is not perfect but this is likely to suit the next owner who should really use and the enjoy the car to its maximum potential.
