267 EBH was supplied new by Peerless Motors (of Peerless and Warwick GT Cars), Slough on the 12th December 1958. The XK left the factory in Sherwood Green with Suede Green upholstery and is today still in its original colours with matching engine and chassis numbers and original registration mark. On the 12th December 1958 the Jaguar was sold to a Mr Royston in Penarth, South Wales. The first owner kept the XK for two years before being sold by A & P Motor Tyre Company to Squadron Leader D Hayes in London. After several years the XK was then sold to its third owner, a Pilot Officer within the same Squadron who kept the car for 19 years. After 19 years, in 1983 267 EBH was sold to the last owner who has restored, maintained and carefully looked after this beautiful, low mileage example, keeping the car for an impressive 29 years. The Jaguar has come to us with a genuine low mileage of 63000 with 9000 covered over the past 29 years.
This beautifully presented car has a wonderful patina and retains a substantial amount of originality although it has had thousands of pounds spent over the years. The car still retains its original brown 'buff' logbook confirming this is a genuine RHD matching numbers car, original Drivers handbook, old tax discs, RAF/Aircraft harness belts from the 1960's and original 'Ace' silver peak number plates. A detailed photograph album accompanies the car and details two bare metal re-paints in 1984 and 2001. The body has had all metal repaired, then lead loaded as necessary and prepared for a top quality paint finish. All chrome work was removed and re-plated and as a result the XK presents beautifully with a stunning finish. The body is outstanding with superb, straight panels, excellent panel gaps and no corrosion issues. The underside is first class with a beautifully preserved chassis and the car is finished nicely with a set of chrome wire wheels. The upholstery is very original and clearly demonstrates what a superbly well kept, original car this really is. The leather seats are original and have a wonderful patina, the carpets, headlining and door cards are first class and fur flexes have been replaced. A correct period HMV/Radiomobile has also been fitted.
Mechanically the Jaguar is excellent and days before arriving with us had in the region of £3000 spent on a total brake overhaul to include new pistons, re-sleeved cylinders, new seals, new servo, new flexi and copper paperwork, rebuilt handbrake callipers and new pads. Further expenditure detailed in the history file includes new tyres, new battery, rear springs, rebuilt radiator, new oil pump, water pump and propshaft. On the road 267 EBH performs superbly with an excellent, strong engine holding impressive oil pressure. The MOSS gearbox is a delight to use and the overall performance of the XK is outstanding. The overdrive works perfectly coming in out smoothly. Not only does the car present superbly as an unmolested original car, it is truly wonderful to drive with fabulous handling and a brand new braking system. This is certainly one of the most original XK's we've seen and we are delighted to confirm that it has come to us in exceptional condition throughout. This is an excellent opportunity to purchase a genuine low mileage car with detailed history. 267 EBH is an ideal collectors piece that can also be driven and enjoyed on a regular basis, whether for long distance touring, shows, rallies or weekend use. A very special car that will be difficult to replicate.
