This is a truly exceptional, top class example that could grace any collection. 379 UXV is of show class quality, an ideal collector’s vehicle that can also be thoroughly enjoyed on the road. This stunning XK150 offers impressive provenance being a matching numbers 3.8 SE model still in its original factory supplied colour combination. Finished from the factory in Cream with Red trim, the car was built on the 23rd September 1960 and supplied new by Jaguar Cars, New York.
In 1989 the XK150 returned to the UK and was acquired by a Suffolk based owner in the early 1990's who kept the car for almost 20 years. During his ownership the XK was subject of a ten years full nut and bolt, body off restoration. An impressive photographic record accompanies parts invoices and various other history. Having taken the XK to an outstanding level, the long-term owner covered 500 miles before selling the car due to ill health in 2011. Receipts since changing hands in 2011 are on file for over £11,000 for maintenance and further improvements to include five new chrome wire wheels, Michelin tyres, various new gaskets, hoses, brake parts, re-setting ride height and general servicing.
In order to ensure a show standard finish, in September 2019 the Jaguar had almost £15,000 spent on a full, top class professional re-paint. With paintwork over ten years old, the owner made the decision to invest further in the car in order to ensure it was finished to a truly outstanding level. Whilst having this work carried out, perfect panel gaps were ensured, and minor detailed improvements included removing the rocker covers for professional polishing and brand new door furflexes. Due to a change in circumstances, the XK150 has unexpectedly come onto the market.
The XK150 has covered less than 4000 miles since completing its body off rebuild and we can confirm the car is first class to drive. The original 3.8 engine is fabulous holding excellent oil pressure, performs superbly with impressive acceleration and looks and sound like a new engine. The four speed gearbox is a delight to use with smooth changes, the overdrive comes in and out smoothly and the car steers, handles and brakes correctly. All electrics have been rebuilt ensuing everything works correctly, and the engine bay presents like a car that was rebuilt just a few months ago. The spare wheel well is immaculate with tool bag and jack etc, the chassis presents beautifully, and the bodywork is absolutely top class. The paint finish is of show standard quality and the upholstery is exquisite with a high-quality carpets, leather, headlining and dashboard. This is certainly one of the most beautiful XK150's we've seen in recent years and the attention to detail that's gone into this car is quite clear.
