1971 Jensen Interceptor II

BHJ 151J was built on the 6th December 1970 and left the factory in Oakland Green with Beige upholstery. Our MKII Interceptor was first registered on the 1st April 1971 and supplied new by Moores of Russell Square, Brighton. The Jensen comes with an exceptional, detailed history that includes very early history and work carried out by the supplying dealer.

This Interceptor has been with the last owner for the past 8 years and has had substantial expenditure to ensure the car has been totally reliable. We collected the Jensen in Sussex and covered in the region of 300 faultless miles back to Yorkshire. The car performs superbly with exceptional performance, the car was an absolute delight with lots of power, perfect gear changes, superb handling and braking. The Jensen has no overheating problems and the engine is strong, reliable and sounds wonderful. Recent work includes a gearbox and torque converter rebuild, new engine mountings, new servo, re-conditioned steering rack, front brake pads, rebuilt carb, new front seat foams and new rear wheel arch repair sections. Recent expenditure with the last owner totals almost £10,000 and during the late 1990's over £5000 was spent with a top Jensen specialist.

The history file contains maintenance and restoration records from new and it is pleasing to see the car has been kept in good, useable condition for over 40 years. Our Jensen appears to be a car that has always been kept in roadworthy condition and has never been off the road long enough to deteriorate. The car still has a large amount of originality, particularly the upholstery which still retains original carpets. The car is absolutely ideal for regular use and anybody who wants a Jensen to simply jump in and drive. The car is fantastic fun to drive and the fact that the last owner has covered 10,000 miles in the car and we have been able to drive it from West Sussex without hesitation tells us this is a perfectly useable car that just needs to be enjoyed. Whilst the car can be improved in the detail, it is a good strong base that can be looked after and enjoyed for many years to come or be improved over time if desired.
