1935 Lanchester 10 Sports Saloon

BDU 747 was first registered on the 31st December 1935 and has been with its last owner in Norfolk for the past 14 years. We have a copy of the original continuation 'buff' logbook and know this Lanchester Sports Saloon was supplied new with Black paintwork and throughout the 1940's and early 1950's the car was in Lincolnshire. The paperwork with the car suggests the car has spent most of its life on the East of England.

The Lanchester appears very original on body and has nicely aged paintwork with odd marks and blemishes confirming what a lovely, honest and original 79 year old vehicle this is. The car has never required full restoration and is very solid with a lovely patina. The interior has had work, the leather seats have been re-trimmed but there are still lots of traces of originality in place.

We have MOT's dating back to 2001 and from these can see the Lanchester has covered in the region of 5000 miles. The car has been kept on the road, used and enjoyed in good weather and has proven to be very reliable. BDU 747 has only covered 1500 miles since an engine rebuild that included re-honing the bores, fitting new pistons and rings and rebuilding the cylinder head.

On the road our Lanchester performs well with good performance from the strong, rebuilt engine. The pre-selector gearbox works perfectly as it should and the car drives well with a good road holding. The brakes are sharp, the handling is very good and the car offers a reliable, pre-war driving experience.
