This beautiful Series One Land Rover was built on the 30th March 1954, despatched on the 12th April and supplied new by Henlys of London. This Home Market 86” Land Rover left the factory finished in Green with a 2 litre petrol engine and is today still in its original factory specification. We believe the Land Rover spent its early life in private ownership in Middlesex but in 2017/2018 was discovered as a ‘barn find’ after 40 years off the road. The vehicle was the taken to a Land Rover specialist for a major rebuild that was completed in 2018.
The Land Rover was treated to a major restoration that included stripping and powder coating the chassis. The body was stripped down and treated to a brand new bulk head, inner and outer front wings, rebuilt tub, new floors and re-furbished tail gate. The body was then prepared, re-painted and the Land Rover then built up with various new trims, badges, lights, new canvas hood, new wiring harness and new front bumper. The Land Rover was treated to a new interior and mechanically overhauled with new brake drums, brake linings, copper brake pipes, new master and slave cylinders, new petrol tank, re-conditioned radiator, new track rod ends, various new steering components, the engine bottom end was rebuilt, various gaskets replaced and the engine beautifully detailed. Wheels were re-furbished, new tyres fitted and the Land Rover then ready for the road once again after a 40 year absence.
Since restoration the Series One has been gently run in by a North Yorkshire moors based enthusiast who has enjoyed fair weather gentle use, and further fettling and detailing the Land Rover having had its major programme of work. The vehicle has arrived with us presenting in beautiful condition with a stunning gleaming paint finish, excellent powder coated straight chassis, lovely restored body and first class re-trimmed upholstery. The engine bay is exceptional with a fabulous level of detail and on the road the Landy is exactly as it should be; strong, robust, reliable and brilliant fun. This Series One drives well, the 2.0 engine is fit and healthy, gear shifts are nice and the Landy handles and brakes well having had the recent refurbishment. With an overhauled electrical system and wiring harness, everything works as it should so this is an iconic, well sorted very correct Series One that can be cherished and enjoyed without hesitation.
