Land Rover entered production with the Series One in 1948. The model was launched at the Amsterdam Motor Show and was originally designed for farm and light industrial use. The incredibly well built Land Rover had a steel box section chassis and an aluminum body. From 1948 to 1951 Land Rover used an 80" wheelbase and 1.6 litre petrol engine with Rover P3 gearbox with a new two speed transfer box. This incorporated an 4 wheel drive system with a free wheel unit.APA 753A is a superb driving example that we sold to a regular customer in Northallerton back in 2005. This is a usable example that has proved a very robust and reliable vehicle for weekend use and enjoyment. Mechanically the Land Rover is very strong and comes with a full MOT and has recently had a new exhaust section, new fuel pump and new dynamo. Further recent work includes new rear brake shoes, two new wheel cylinders, rebuilt master cylinder and various replacement brake pipes. The Land Rover has also had a recent service and a replaced rear hub oil seal. We are told the engine was rebuilt prior to us selling the Land Rover in 2005 and the gearbox feels excellent. The Land Rover body is very straight with good panels and older paintwork with a nice patina. The canvas hood is in very good order and the interior appears very smart and original.
