1965 Land Rover Series IIA Station Wagon
This fantastic Series IIA Short Wheelbase Land Rover arrived with us in brilliant order having had thousands spent by its previous owner. It is a Land Rover that could take on the worst off- road situations or just as easily sit among other vehicles of its age at local car shows in the summertime.
KLG969C has benefitted from thousands of pounds worth of expenditure over the last eight years. Its previous owner spared no expense in ensuring the Land Rover was in strong condition and making it one of the most usable examples we have come across. Underneath it is sitting on a galvanised chassis along with parabolic springs making the ride much more comfortable, a galvanised bulkhead was also fitted at the time. In order to bring the bodywork up to the same standard as the underside of the vehicle, three new doors were purchased and painted in the correct Land Rover Green.
Mechanically, the Land Rover could not be better. An ex-military 2.25 Litre petrol engine was installed along with a new carburettor, fuel pump and fuel tank. Thanks to these upgrades it was described to us as “ultra reliable” by the previous owner. Also being fitted with free wheeling hubs, this Series II can return much better fuel economy than that of Land Rovers with traditional running gear. Adding further to the list of mechanical work, the Land Rover has also had a fully rebuilt ignition system, a full braking system overhaul, a complete new exhaust and an alternator conversion ensuring the Land Rover is capable of reliable, regular use.
On the road, KLG969C is a delight to drive. The strong, fit engine pulls through the gears superbly and the ride is lovely. Also having recently re-trimmed deluxe front seats the Land Rover has a much more comfortable and relaxed driving position, perfect for driving on local rallies or longer distance cruising and with the option of removing the Safari roof, the Land Rover can be enjoyed as an open top when the weather suits.
