Land Rover entered production with the Series One in 1948. The model was launched at the Amsterdam Motor Show and was originally designed for farm and light industrial use. The incredibly well built Land Rover had a steel box section chassis and an aluminium body.
This smartly presented example has come to us from a regular customer based near Penrith. The Land Rover has come to us in excellent mechanical order and has to be one of the very best driving examples we have come across. On the road this vehicle is exceptional with a beautiful, strong 2.0 engine, particularly quiet gearbox and rear axle. The Land Rover starts up on the button, performs superbly and has sharp brakes and very good handling. It is a delight on the road and surprisingly quiet.
Recent work includes a full service, new front springs, new brake linings, new headlights, and new gear lever reverse springs. Further new parts include a fuel tank, tyres, rocker cover gasket, exhaust rear silencer, water pump, hoses and heater air hoses. The Land Rover has also been recently treated to a full external re-paint and as a result presents superbly. The body is excellent, the paint finish superb and the wheels also very smart. The canvas hood is in very good order, the upholstery nicely presented and the vehicle is ready to drive away.
