This superb driving MGB GT has been with its last owner in North Lincolnshire for the past five years. The car was purchased in 2008 with a recorded mileage of 54604 miles that was believed to be genuine. Over five years the MG has covered over 6000 miles and has been kept in regular use. As a retired motor engineer, the last owner has been meticulous in maintaining and improving the car mechanically and has kept a diary log of all repairs and maintenance over the past five years. The MG was driven over to us from Lincolnshire on two occasions and came to us in part exchange against a Riley 1.5 Saloon.
Recent work and expenditure includes renewing all front suspension bushes, new rear springs, new shock absorbers all round, new rear brake shoes, handbrake cable, front brake discs, pads and caliper seals and various new wheel cylinders. Further work includes fitting a new fuel pump, new distributor tension lead, renewed diff pinion oil seal, fitting electronic ignition, a new Kenlowe fan, re-coring the radiator and replacing air filters. Cosmetic improvements include new front and rear bumpers, new grill, new windscreen, windscreen rubber and chrome insert. The wheels have also been powder coated and the centres re-painted. The recent work has contributed to the car driving absolutely first class and to find a better driving MGB would not be easy. The car is outstanding to drive with a perfect road holding, sharp, efficient brakes and the engine and gearbox are both in excellent order. The engine holds excellent oil pressure, the gearbox syncro's are excellent and the car has a working overdrive.
The MGB presents very well with a stunning detailed engine bay. The inner wings have been polished and detailed, the engine unit and ancillaries are all clean and well presented. The chrome work gleams having been replaced and paintwork is still very bright and presentable although it is eight years since a bare metal re-paint. The MG comes with a comprehensive history file that includes photos of the bare metal re-paint and body restoration. The work was carried out to high standard and whilst the body does have very minor imperfections after many years since body and paintwork, the car is structurally excellent and the paint has a lovely, sharp finish. The interior is good with smart original seats, a good headlining and clean original door cards. The original carpets have been replaced, the dashboard is excellent and all the gauges work. Overall this is an excellent driving MGB that is ideal for regular or even everyday use.
