This beautifully presented MGB Roadster has been driven to us from Harrogate. The MGB was rebuilt to a very high standard during the 1990's and more recently has had extensive work that has ensured this car drives superbly. The MG is further enhanced by a modified, high performance cylinder head and is particular quick on the road with outstanding handling due to recent suspension and steering work.
Between 1991 and 1997 the MGB was restored with a photographic record. In 1991 the MGB was taken back to bare metal, rebuilt as necessary and re-painted in British Racing Green. The body is exceptionally clean and straight with an excellent paint finish and original Rostyle wheels that have been powder coated. Major mechanical work followed and in 1997 the engine was rebuilt. The engine was re-bored, new pistons and bearing fitted and the crankshaft re-ground. The flywheel was lightened and balanced and the cylinder head modified by Peter Burgess Automotive Performance Engineering. A Kent 715 cam, new followers and larger inlet valves were fitted and the head gas flowed to increase power and performance. Carburettors were re-jetted and K&N filters fitted. A new clutch was fitted and other mechanical work included rebuilding the diff, V8 brake discs, four pot callipers and heavy duty front suspension bushes. Since this work the MGB has covered 15000 miles.
Since 2009 the MG has had extensive work to include stripping down the front suspension, steering rack and brakes. Stub axles were stripped, cleaned and re-assembled with new king pins and distance tube kits. New wishbone arms were fitted with new V8 bushes and new bump stop kits and bottom trunions fitted. New coil springs and front shockers with new fulcrum pins were also fitted. New brake back plates, a new steering rack, new track rod ends and engine tune were also part of the work carried out in August 2009 at the cost of £1,750. Further work included fitting a new hood, new leather seats, new carpets, new radio, new exhaust system, new radiator and new distributor. The MGB comes with a comprehensive history file including invoices dating back over twenty years, MOT certificates dating back to 1988 and photographs of the body restoration carried out in 1991. RBT 402T is a fantastic car that has careful attention and detail. This is a particular quick MGB that is truly outstanding to drive. The engine has lots of power, superb performance and sounds wonderful. The gearbox is smooth, the overdrive comes in correctly and the car handles and brakes superbly. Our MG is really one of the best driving late B Roadsters we've owned
