1969 MG C GT

UDE 851H is an original RHD home market MGC GT that was sold new by George Ace Limited, Tenby, Wales. This MGC left the factory in Tartan Red with Black trim and was equipped with heater, heated rear window and wire wheels. UDE 851H was built in March 1969 and was despatched on the 14th July. The car still retains its original Pembrokeshire registration mark.

This MGC is remarkably original and has spent the majority of the past 44 years in either Wales or the South West of England. According to the V5, the vehicles first owner kept the car for 10 years, selling the C in 1979. UDE 851H then spent 32 years with the same Cardiff owner, not changing hands again until 2011. The MGC now records 78000 miles from new and whilst we cannot guarantee this as genuine, the condition of the vehicle certainly fits with the relatively low recorded mileage.

We have invoices dating back to 2003 and the file suggests the car has been very well maintained. In 2011 before selling the C, the long term owner spent in the region of £2000 on the car. This expenditure included a full service, new tyres, new batteries, , new clutch slave and master cylinder, new track rod ends, new washer pump, brake hoses, brake pads, brake discs and wheel cylinders. In 2003 the C had a new clutch, gearbox mountings and exhaust system and since 2003, just 4000 miles have been covered.

We collected the car in Cheltenham where the car has been for the past 18 months. Over the past six months, the C has had no use and as a result was offered to us. On arrival, we have checked the vehicle over and taken it on an extended test drive. The car drives superbly with a strong engine holding excellent oil pressure. Performance is impressive and the gearbox feels strong. Braking and handling feel sharp, efficient and the car is tight with a good road holding. The bodywork is solid with nicely aged Tartan red paintwork. The car has an original, honest feel to it and condition certainly points towards a well looked after garaged car.  The upholstery presents well with lovely leather seats and the engine bay and chrome work are clean, presentable and nicely aged.
