This stunning MGC was first registered on 3rd May 1968 and has spent 30 years with one owner. From the extensive history we know the MGC has covered 13,000 miles since 1983 and has been subject of two major refurbishment programmes during 1985 and 1995. The C is finished in the desirable colour of Mineral Blue with Dark Blue leather, Black soft top hood and is fitted with chrome wire wheels.
VHN 204F has MOT certificates dating back to 1983 and a file of receipts totalling over £26,000. The MG was initially rebuilt in 1985 and from 1986-1990 covered over 2000 miles. From April 1990-February 1991 the owner was working overseas and the MG was placed in storage. From 1991 to 1995 another 3000 miles were covered and over the summer of 1995 was treated to further restoration work including a re-trim, full re-paint, new chrome work, hood and various other work. From September 1995 to 2012 the C covered 4600 miles and just 1000 miles have been covered since then. In total since the first restoration the car has covered 11,000 miles and proven to be a reliable, usable example in excellent mechanical order.
The majority of the expenditure on VHN 204F has been with the same reputable Bradford based classic car restoration specialists. We have receipts from them for a re-conditioned overdrive unit, new clutch, all new hoses, alternator re-conditioning, stainless steel exhaust, kenlowe fan, Spax rear shock absorbers, brake overhaul including new calipers, new steering rack, tacho and speed repairs, new bumpers, over-riders, new rubber seals, new window winder mechanisms, new heater knobs, door handles, door cappings, cables, switches, weather strips, interior door panels, bulkhead panels, footwell panels, rear panels, bodywork, re-paint and engine strip down. The paper work is thorough and hundreds of individual parts are listed showing the level of detail going into the restoration. The car clearly benefits from a long term owner who has with no expense spared kept up to this car and used the same garage for almost thirty years.
The MGC more recently had further expenditure to include a full external re-paint. The previous re-paint was during the mid-1990's so the Mineral Blue paint had begun to fade and show signs of age. Due to the impressive condition of the bodyshell, the C just required a strip down of external parts, basic paint preparation and several coats of new paint. The result is an exceptional glass paint finish complimenting the stunning straight panels. The engine bay is smartly presented having being recently detailed and the re-trimmed upholstery has nicely aged. The chrome work is still of a good standard and the hood is in lovely order. The C drives superbly with a strong engine holding excellent oil pressure, smooth four speed gearbox with excellent syncro's, working overdrive and handles and brakes correctly. VHN 204F is a fabulous, usable example that has had no expense spared for thirty years.
