1968 MG CGT

This outstanding low mileage MGC GT is one of the best examples we have seen in recent years. LRG 717G left the factory in Snowberry White and was first registered on the 7th November 1968. The MG was supplied new in Aberdeenshire where it stayed for 13 years before moving to Inverness with a mileage of 52000 in 1981. The MG was then with its first Inverness owner for 23 years and the car has very little use before selling to a classic car enthusiast just 12 miles away in 2004. The MG had spent considerable time off the road and by 2007 was re-commissioned and back on the road with a mileage recorded at MOT of 55563. The MGC came into the ownership of one our regular customers in 2011 and has since been meticulously detailed and maintained, arriving with us in outstanding condition.

LRG 717G has only covered 56000 miles from new and comes with MOT certificates dating back to 1975 when it recorded 48126 miles. The car has clearly been subject of a top class body restoration in recent years and has arrived with us with stunning, rust free bodywork and exceptional paintwork. It is clear the MG has never been left to deteriorate as the car still retains excellent original shut lines and panel fit, the doors also close like when it left the factory. The bodyshell really is in top class condition and under the bonnet is similar with stunning inner wings and a high level of detailed. The chrome work gleams and has clearly been replaced, the painted wire wheels are like new and the car has a beautiful upholstery with black leather seats with red piping. Whilst the car has certainly had restoration work, there is a very original feel to the car.

On the LRG 717G is exceptional with impressive performance coming for the 3.0 litre engine. The engine is strong, as is the gearbox. Overdrive comes in and out smoothly and this CGT feels very precise and tight on the road. The car drives as one would expect when just a few years old and gives the driver confidence you could take the car anywhere. This is a true driver's car, it has spent many years off the road and in recent years has been carefully detailed and has not had much use. It is ready for some serious long distance touring, UK or abroad and should certainly give its next owner some great fun.
