1972 MG Midget RWA

This Round Wheel Arch MG Midget has resided in either North or West Yorkshire from brand new. The first owner was based in Horsforth, Leeds and over the years the MG has been in Bradford, Otley, Halifax, York, Hovingham near Malton and Huddersfield. The MG came to us from Bradford and had been with its most recent owner for 2 years. Interestingly, this recent owner also had the car back in 1979 for two years and again in 1996 for three years so in 36 years since first buying the car has owned it three times.

The MG was restored during the late 1980's and early 1990's. A photo record show the body totally stripped down and at various stages of a bare shell rebuild. The car was clearly rebuilt to a high standard and over three decades has been kept as a structurally sound, strong, usable car. Receipts over the years demonstrate good maintenance and a significant invoice is present from 2007 when the engine was rebuilt. Work included re-grinding the crankshaft, main and big end bearings and fitting new pistons. An unleaded head conversion was also carried out.

Over the past couple of years the MG has had very little use so in 2017 a programme of re-commissioning work was carried out. The MG was treated to new front brake discs, pads, calipers and rear wheel cylinders and rear brake drums. A new clutch slave cylinder was fitted, new exhaust mountings, new spark plugs, condenser, points and rotor arm also fitted. The MG was also treated to fresh oil and a filter change, new wiper blades and five new tyres. The rev counter was re-conditioned, a new pair of Halogen headlamps fitted and the fan belt changed. After almost 30 years since the restoration, the MG was also treated to a full re-paint due to various dents and dings visible. The MG was prepared and professionally painted to a lovely high standard and the MG is now ready to use and enjoy. KUM 149L is a great buy for many reasons. It drives superbly; it has recently undergone a major amount of mechanical work and is as such ready to go. It also retains a really strong, solid bodyshell, it now has exceptional gleaming paintwork and the chrome is of a good standard. The interior has that nicely aged feel and looks like a fine, usable classic that can be further detailed if necessary. This desirable RWA Midget is great fun and its sweet 1275cc engine offers so much fun. This is a car to drive and enjoy and with show standard Round Wheel Arch Midgets commanding £15,000, this car offers superb value.
