This delightfully aged MG TA was built in June 1937 and spent its first 26 years in the UK. Interestingly, prior to 1963 the only clue to its origin is the University Motors of London engine rebuild plate dating back to November 1952.
The MG has in recent years had a chassis up, body off restoration with the original frame being retained where possible. The Ivory coachwork is complemented by the delightfully aged Red interior which is trimmed in period leather cloth. The MG retains many of its original features such as its three bush dynamo, headlights, screen and body panels. The MG has recently been re-commissioned and is on the button, has very good oil pressure and cooling system, good brakes and the despite the usual vague steering, handles well and is remarkably comfortable with period bucket seats that suit the taller driver. The car does drive very well and has newly rebuilt correct pattern lever arm shock absorbers.
The period hood will be replaced for its next owner and the car has recently been complimented by the fitting of a new Black tonneau cover. The interior is nicely finished and correctly carpeted in Black. The door panels have map pockets with fasteners and the dashboard and dials are all in very good order. Due to spending the last fifty years in Holland, the Jaeger speedo is calibrated in KM's, however the 30 MPH warning light still functions.Prior to arriving with us, the MG has been serviced, greased and a new 65Ah battery fitted. The MG has lots of character, has a real honest feel with a delightful patina and is a very usable, good driving MG TA. Now the car is back in the UK, re-registration is underway so the MG will soon be allocated with a UK registration mark.
