1946 MG TC

Our beautifully presented MG TC was first registered on the 1st January 1946 and was supplied new in the United States of America. The TC was the first post war car to be exported to the US and began America's long established love for the British sports car. In total 10,001 MG TC's were built, many going for export but all in right hand drive format.

This stunning Clipper Blue TC was subject of a full nut and bolt body off restoration in 1999-2000 and since completion has covered very few miles. The professional rebuild was carried out by a team of British specialists in Central New York for a prominent member of the New York MG Car Club. A full photographic record of the work is with the vehicle along with thousands of dollars worth of invoices. After restoration, the MG was used on the show circuit before being shipped to the UK early this year. The rebuild has been carried out to an exceptionally high standard and photographs show the car stripped down to the bare chassis. The MG was subject of a total body restoration, re-wire, re-trim to include full weather equipment, re-chrome, refurbished wire wheels and new crossply tyres. The MG was mechanically overhauled with new suspension, brakes, the engine rebuilt, gearbox stripped and checked, new fuel tank and the starter motor, dynamo and voltage regulator all stripped and re-assembled. The history file goes into great detail and invoices support the photographs in demonstrating what was a very thorough and high quality restoration.

Several years on since restoration and the car still presents like it was completed very recently. The body work is in excellent order, the paintwork pristine, the chassis and suspension all look brand new and the weather equipment and chrome are all excellent. The leather upholstery is beautiful, the engine bay superbly detailed and the MG presents as one would expect having covered very little mileage since a comprehensive rebuild.

On the road 642 UYE is top class with a strong, responsive engine holding correct oil pressure. Performance is lively, the car feels quick and the gearbox is excellent with smooth changes both up and down the gearbox. The brakes are efficient, the suspension feels perfect and the car immediately gives you confidence to cover long distances. Whether for weekend use, long distance touring or showing, this TC is worth serious consideration.
