WFO 875 has had over £35,000 spent since 2001, has covered over 40,000 miles in the last 16 years and has regularly toured in the South of England, Belgium and France. This could be the ultimate touring MG TD that has a proven long distance driving track record. Several photos with the car show it at the 2005 Regency Run (Surrey/Sussex MG run), 2009 Windsor run, in Normandy in 2007, at Han sur Lesse, Belgium in 2008 and at the 2011 tour of Newhaven. The MG spent from 2001 to 2016 with one meticulous owner in the Maidstone area of Kent and was driven faultlessly to Yorkshire. The MG has been with one our regular local customers just 3 miles away and has come to us in part exchange.
The MG was manufactured on the 31st December 1950 and was exported to the US. We are told the car spent much of its time in Texas before coming back to the UK during the mid 1990's. The MG was reportedly fully restored and on completion UK registered on the 1st July 1996. The first owner in Greenock purchased the MG and covered 1567 miles in 5 years before selling it to a Glasgow based classic car dealership. The TD was then purchased by its recent long term owner who kept the car fifteen years. During his ownership in the region of £35,000 has been spent ensuring the MG was kept in excellent mechanical order ready for its regular long distance and overseas touring events. More recent expenditure includes a full engine rebuild to include new camshaft/followers, new pistons, machined block and a new clutch plate. A brand new five speed gearbox has been fitted, the 4.55:1 rear axle rebuilt and over the years thousands of pounds worth of parts replaced. Parts include new re conditioned front shocks, rear springs, new brake shoes, wheel bearings, master cylinder, reconditioned wiper motor, new water pump, petrol pump, new starter motor and re-conditioned gauges. The MG has had absolutely everything it has ever needed.
On the road the MG is an absolute delight as expected. Around 10,000 miles been covered since the engine rebuild and it performs perfectly. The gearbox is a delight to use, the MG handles perfectly and it can be driven with confidence. The driving experience is just wonderful, this really is a car to use and enjoy and not be frightened to cover serious mileage. The car has some lovely features such as the scarce MG dash chrome grab handles and bonnet rests and whilst it has had a fortune spent on it, it does have a lovely aged feel and patina. The Dark Green leather has beautifully aged and presents well, full weather equipment is in very good order, the bodywork and paint haven't been touched for quite some time but present very well. The nicely aged Cream paint has a nice finish, chrome work is very smart and the body structurally superb. WFO 875 is a fabulous find, there can't be many that have been toured so extensively and had such a high level of mechanical expenditure over a relatively short period of time.
