1950 MG TD
We are delighted to offer this beautifully presented very early MG TD onto the market. 1932 HL started life in South Africa, an original right-hand drive car that came over to the UK in 1991. MOT’s in the history file show the car was used between 1996 and 2003, it was then laid up off the road until selling to the most recent owner in Scotland in early 2019. The MG was purchased as a summer project and now completed and presented in beautiful condition, the car is offered onto the market.
Before work commenced, the engine was checked over by a local Fife based garage and found to be in very strong condition. The chassis is excellent, the underside structurally superb and the engine found to have very good oil pressure and compressions. The MG was then stripped right back, doors, wings and bonnet removed and the bare tub fully prepared for a full re-paint. The TD was then treated to a full professional re-paint and carefully built back up. The interior was completely removed, cleaned and detailed, then re-fitted, as was brightwork.
Once back together, the MG was re-commissioned. The carburettors were re-furbished, brakes were stripped, freed and adjusted, new brake shoes fitted and all brake pipes were secured. Some new pipes were fabricated, various unions were re-thread and then the system bled. The propshaft was removed and the rear joint replaced, all axle fittings tightened, fuel tank fittings tightened up, the suspension and the various required points greased and the engine fully serviced and all relevant fluids changed. The MG was also treated to new exhaust mounts, new headlamps and various new lamps and rubbers.
1932 HL is a beautiful looking car with an exceptional straight body and underside. The TD has a beautiful fresh paint finish, absolutely no corrosion issues having spent the majority of its life in a very dry climate. The upholstery has a nicely aged look and feel to it, full weather equipment and a good quality hood is in place and the engine bay is very tidy. This very usable MG is a strong driver, is an absolute pleasure on the road and drives incredibly well. 1932 HL offers superb value and is a car ready to drive, use and show.
