This beautifully presented MG TF 1250 was supplied new in North America. During the 1980's the MG was shipped to the UK and subject of a top class, professional restoration and right hand drive conversion. The TF was completed by 1989, finished in bright Red with lovely Tan leather upholstery, Beige weather equipment and chrome wire wheels. The car was finished to a high standard and during the 1990's and 2000's has featured at many shows, rallies and events in both England and Wales.
The car originally came to us in 2008 having spent many years on the Welsh show scene. The car required very little preparation work and quickly sold to a local MG enthusiast near York. Between 2008 and 2015 the MG has proven totally reliable and has travelled all over North Yorkshire to many classic car shows. Over several years of regular use, the owner spent almost £5,000 on further improvements to include a full engine rebuild. The MG was treated to new main and big end bearings and shells, new camshaft, new pistons and piston ring set, oil pump, cam bearing, re-ground crankshaft and all new gaskets. Further expenditure included regular maintenance. Over the past twelve months the MG has not been used, it has been dry stored and has been through our workshop for some light re-comissioning prior to marketing. Recent work includes new front brake shoes, front wheel cylinders, rear brake shoes, new brake adjuster kit, new track rod end boots, steering column lower bolts, steering column lower rubber joints, new rear exhaust mount, new top hose, fan belt and a brand new set of tyres.
TSU 248 has also been treated to a full strip down and re-paint at our Malton Coachworks bodyshop. After 27 years since restoration completion, the Red paint was ready for brightening up so the car was booked in for a professional re-paint that included removing the windscreen, wings, doors and bonnet panels. The strong, top quality body was carefully prepared for re-paint and treated to a top class finish. The MG was then carefully built up, polished and is now ready for a new owner, in a condition where it can be entered into shows. The chrome work is still of a very good standard and the Tan leather upholstery has beautifully aged and has a nice patina. This is a lovely older restoration that now boasts a gleaming paint finish with lovely rich upholstery, bright chrome work including wire wheels and is in strong mechanical order. On the road the TF performs well with a strong 1250cc unit that cruises comfortably between 50-60mph, original four speed gearbox with excellent syncro's and due to the recent mechanical work offers tight steering, good quality handling and braking. Having had a recent programme of work to total over £6,000, and £5,000 spent between 2008 and 2015, this is a TF that can be bought with confidence. The MG comes with a photo record from the rebuild and recent re-paint and display board with many show and event placques.
